In April 1935 Houston Texas Fire Fighters Federal Credit Union was granted a federal charter by the National Credit Union Administration to provide financial service to Houston Fire Fighters. Twelve Fire Fighters contributed a quarter to bring total assets to $3 - kept safe in a locked drawer of a roll top desk and insured by the full faith of the United States government. Today Houston Texas Fire Fighters Federal Credit Union is a full service financial institution with 3 locations, $170 million in assets, and over 16,000 members. The credit union continues to be rated at the highest level of safety and security ensuring that our members that the original purpose of "people helping people" has remained the primary focus of the credit union's mission.
